O poets, arise!
Make the coffee.
Turn on the Sopranos
for inspiration . . .
see how they blithely thrive.
In the shadow of death,
in the company of assassins
they shout,
“Marco
Polo,”
bake ziti.
They barbecue.
Should we not then
do likewise?

This new book of poetry by lalo kikiriki sings as it explores the soundtrack of our lives. A delightful book!

About the Author

lalo kikiriki is a person of multiple identities and gender identifications. Having discovered at 14 that males had more freedom and credibility as poets, the cis-female radio performer Jenny Palmer, (aka Mandy Pression on KPFT Radio Houston), invented a new persona, lalo kikiriki, for her first book of poems: Old Movies/Other Visions, published 1979 in tandem with sister Pam Palmer.

Born in Oklahoma, raised in Louisiana and Texas, lalo moved to California in 1979 and a year later set up housekeeping in a shotgun shack in Silver Lake with husband Doug and son Charlie. Daughter Laura Anne (Rabbit) was born in 1988,

lalo (aka Jenifer Palmer-Lacy) continues to write, paint and perform songs and poetry in venues throughout Southern California. An MA graduate of Cal State Dominguez Hills in 2005, lalo settled in Joshua Tree part time and remains a traveler between Silver Lake and the desert.
